I saw on the news last night that some water reservoirs are getting low!!!!!

Unbelievable..........what do they do with the stuff...

Flog it to industry would be my bet...

Despite what people may think, drinking water is a precious and highly sort after commodity
Less than 1% of the water supply on earth can be used as drinking water.
We bang on about renewable ,we should be putting as much energy in preserving our drinking water supply, the price of water is set to greatly increase as demand increases, even if correct investment was being made, which it is not!!

Like many things we take it for granted until one morning we wake up and have to start paying for the abuse.

To have such a precious commodity in the hands of the private sector and expecting them to make the correct long term investments is a joke.

I am not into nationalisation but think one of our basic needs should be it that category, it is only a matter of time before we have to start throwing money at the problem anyway, either, directly through bills, so the markets can skim off their share or indirectly through the government and have some skimmed off by inefficiency, I prefer the later in this case
imho

Not a problem where I come from, beautiful drinking water is plentiful up here. In the same token it should never be abused. in the south I know they impose garden hose bans etc, if this where ever to be imposed up here I'd happily go along with it. I really detest unneccesary waste

is,nt it quite alarming that on the same day it is announced that the uk population now stands at 62 million and rising?
Has anyone taken on board the ever increasing demand for water?
A couple of drought years on the trot would really see us in trouble

I heard on Sunday (from the priest no less!) that some people are estimating that 4 billion of the world's population (6bn) are going to face water supply difficulties in the not too distant future - sounds a bit meaningless but I got the impression it was going to be during the next generation, say 30 years.

Something else that concerns me is how poorly protected our water supplies are from vandalism or terrorist attack. It seems so easy to throw in a couple of large containers of lethal poison into a resevoir.

Luckily our house has it's own water supply from a hole in the field. If/when we move again, we are likely to drill a borehole if there isn't one already. Rather problematic during a power cut but at least the water's as natural as you'd want it.

High time the govt. levied water co`s out of their vast profits and used the money to build more reservoirs and keep them state owned and built by our own local people especially in poor unemployment areas win win situation:)regards turnpin
