started a job the other and part of the job was to relocate the water meter so the new kitchen could be put in, on looking at the meter in was only serving the k/sink, so basically i moved it to another posistion serving the same, problem ive got is the inspectors going to have a look and dont think this is going to please him.

Any advice on this???

or am i about to have to pay out for an external meter to be fitted to customers boundry??

The water meter is legally the property of the water undertaker and you mustn't remove it or instruct anyone to remove it for you (e.g. a plumber) under any circumstances. This is because it is a contravention of the Water Act (as stated in section 175 of the Water Industry Act 1991) and can be a criminal offence to interfere with, wilfully damage or remove the meter.

internal meter is still property of the utilitity company. The meter should be fitted at the point of entry to the property (usualy after the stop tap) in order to register all water used. if the customer has more than one supply then a atplas box is usualy fitted in the footpath instead.

Hi Take a picture before removal of the pipework layout. This will evidence that the board that fitted the meter made the error. You just mimicked there installation if it comes on top. Good Luck
