Hi All,

Have a pressurised system, red expansion tank in the airing cupboard, recently drained down all radiators to fix leaking joint, re-filled and pressurised to 1.5 bar again, now all heating and hot water off but I still have a sound of running water in the house???!!! Tried all radiators again, no air, but still sounds like air in the pipes and water movement, anybody know a sensible explanation for this? Noise seems to be coming from the cylinder/ pipework from it to the bathroom, which is all located upstairs.
Many thanks

Andy

Hi

As well as venting the radiators, you may well have to vent the high point pipework going into your cylinder, there should be a small figure vent there, once done ,should quite down, also turn boiler thermostat down and let heating run for 1/2 a day to dispel any air in pipework in rads, some rads may require another vent afterwards, once done ,remember to turn boiler thermostat back up !!

Hi A shot of fairy liquid often helps along with venting and topping up.

It certainly does in the right hands, great tip, only a bit mind

Told my brother to do it years ago and got a emergency call, he had soap suds coming out on the loft hatch, he put a full bottle of fairy in the header tank then filled
had to go up to the loft and filled black bin liners with suds, took ages to flush through and then for weeks he was going up once a week or so and skimming the bit of foam from the header tank...................there’s always one runt in the litter :D

Never used on a sealed system,as had no need though and not to good for a low water heat exchanger :)
