Hello everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone can help me. I’m currently working on a job and have 2 water pressure problems with the showers and bath taps.
I am working on the job, i.e. tiling and installation, and am a chippie by trade with some basic plumbing knowledge. The plumber that I am working with on the job does not seem motivated to solve this problem and I really want to get it sorted for the customer.
We have installed 2 showers in 2 separate upstairs bathrooms. They are both the same model: Hansgrohe Chroma Showerpiece (27159000/27169000) with a large rainshower head plus hand held standard shower head. They are currently supplied water by gravity feed from the tank in the roof. One of the showers is fed by a 22ml pipe from the tank in the roof space and then a 15ml pipe from the roof to the head of the shower in the studwork (about 1.3m distance). The other shower is supplied by a 22ml pipe from the tank all the way to the showerhead in the studwork. The water pressure to both showers is insufficient and I have been advised to install a pump to solve the problem.
I have had conflicting information on pump installation from plumbers who I have chatted to at the plumbing suppliers. I would like to know the best pump to use to increase the pressure and how to install it correctly and would really like a recommendation from someone who has experience with this situation.
We have also installed a free-standing bath with a separate standpipe in one of the bathrooms and the bath fill rate is very slow. The bath is being fed by 22ml pipe in the dormer roof space to the flexi hoses and the flexi hoses are about 1m in length up through the standpipe.
How can I increase the fill rate? The manufacturer recommended installing a pump as they didn’t have a standpipe with a larger diameter pipe.
Can anyone recommend a suitable pump and let me know how and where best to install it?
The customer doesn’t want to have one pressure pump to manage the pressure for the whole house or to install a pressure cylinder system due to the cost.
I’d be really grateful for any advice on the right pumps to use for the shower and bath problems.
Many thanks
