Water Pressure

Hi all,
Am currently replacing my bathroom suite. The existing pipework was a mixture of copper and plastic pushfit and compression fittings. Much of it was old so i've taken the decision to replace copper parts with new plastic pushfit. When i've replaced the parts and connected up to the taps etc. and turned the water on i find both the hot and cold pipes will burst a joint somewhere, seemingly because of the pressure. Am i doing something really obviously wrong or is it a question of checking every joint again? Is there something i'm meant to do before i turn the mains water supply back on? All advice gratefully received.

did you use inserts in the plastic pipes?

Yep and i made sure the ends of the pipes are square to get a good seal. It just seems as soon as theres any pressure in the system (and i dont even have to turn the hot water on a third of the way) it will blow a join at some point.

Not pushing them on far enough for them to blow of, if just leaking check the pipe isn't scratched/tightly bent or stretched.

Agree with they aren't pushed in far enough

Use the blunt end of a pencil as a guide to the depth to push the pipe in.
Push the pencil in the fitting till you can feel the ridge that the pipe stops against.
Mark the depth on the pipe and push it till the mark lines up with the end of the fitting, don't forget the insert.
