We have had our central heating system 16 years and never really changed the way or the frequency that we use it. The heating is generally switched off from the beginning of April to the end of October, using only the water heating during this time.
The last few days, the pump has been running all the time, even during the night, and the airing cupboard feels hotter than normal. The pipes in the airing cupboard are much hotter than usual. However, I have looked at the boiler and outside the scheduled times of 6:30-8:00am and 15:30-17:30pm it is not firing up. I have also checked the gas usage, and we do not appear to be using any more than normal. The heat setting switch inside the boiler which is scaled as 'Low,1,2,3,4,5,High' is set to 2 which it always has been in summer. When somebody has had a bath, the pump eventually stops
The pump is called a Grundfos Selectric. Can anyone offer an explanation please?
