lame plumber

Having been an approved plumber since college, they went and changed everything a while back and now we are water safe approved etc etc. So last may I sent a copy of my details in order to stay in the once lifetime scheme, that is now renewed annually having proved you have liability insurance! Only problem being the office cant even open emails and read the copies you send them. So now had the letter telling me I am no longer a member of this wonderful scheme.

To be honest, it becomes a pain in the butt to have to post/email copies of insurance/gas safe/oftec to all insundry in order to be an approved plumber, Rayburn guild member or Intergas approved installer or checkatrade etc etc. You begin to wonder if its worth the hassle, why cant you just forward all the bits to gas safe or oftec and all the rest of the multitude of schemes just check on line vthere when they want you to prove this n that, it would be so much easier!!!!!!!

I dont really remember now what water safe even does for me as an installer!!! if anything, I am certain the general public doesnt know either.

Watersafe is just a pile of pap why would a small business even bother with a scheme like this? It does nothing to stop idiot wannabe bathroom installers haveadabble builders moving pipes n rads .

Save your money imho.

:D just checked in my area there 3 out of prob 100 says a lot for how much people want them creds ;)

Water safe is a joke, so is CIPHE...

I was a CIPHE member for a few years & they were so incompetent, constantly having to re-send the same photocopies of my certificates to them again & again every time I asked to do anything.

When I applied for water safe through CIPHE they asked for the certs again!!!!! And when sent they just delayed the application & had to be asked serveal times about it!

It came up to my renewal for CIPHE & did not renew becaus pe of there incompetence & I came to the conclusion I ain't bothering with water safe either, nobody has heard of either & only ever got 1 crappy job off the CIPHE web search despite few listed plumbers in my area!

Rant over... Avoid organisations that promise there worth & subscription, the customers have heard of none of em, I bet most plumbers have not even heard of water safe in all honesty!

Water safe sounds like one of those button type isolator valves for the mains , also poop

you mean surestop :D

Cancelled my CIPHE registration 3 years ago. Just didn't bother to renew when it was due renewal.
There is also that MyBuilder. I have been pleading with them for 4 years, asking that they remove my details from their site, but they refuse. They say: ''The general public have a right to know about me''? Madness. At the onset, I was happy to leave my company details there as I believed it was 'free advertising'? But now, I believe I am losing jobs by being listed on their site (wish I'd never got drawn in). If someone went on the internet and typed my company name, MyBuilder will be first to list it, then when you go there, you are asked to post the job and ask me to quote for it. But in minutes, 10 others have quoted peanuts for the job. So if I stupidly quote, I don't get the job but pay the shortlist fee. Crazy

GOOD NEWS, A JOB POSTER HAS SEEN YOUR PROFILE AND INVITED YOU TO QUOTE FOR: NEW BOILER IN 2BED FLAT. Log into MyBuilder for more information.
I get the above at least once every other day asking that I've been invited to quote for various jobs. I never respond

got to remind folks that watersafe is free to join and is a government sponsored scheme, just allows you to do water mains work etc on domestic properties without out having to apply to water supplier first. However< I've yet to see anyone being done for not being an approved plumber, probably less effective as a scheme than oftec even!!

I always thought water safe was a scheme thought up by corgi many many moons ago, I then heard that it didn't catch on so it got cancelled. Didn't realise you could still do it, not that I will bother just another company to try and keep happy.
