water softener reccomendation

Hi
Can anybody reccomend a water softener for a large house 5-8 people.
The house also has a 2000ltr accumaltion tank that has to be drained and refilled via the softener, so its important that it can cope with refilling.

Do you mean an accumulator (a big pressure vessel on the incoming main)? If so then you'll need to size the softener ion exchanger based on hardness in the area and the amount of water charge the vessel holds (which will be less than the gross capacity to account for charge air). You might also need to recharge the softener before refilling the accumulator.

How often do you imagine the accumulator will be purged and refilled? If very infrequently, as you'd expect (I'm not really sure why you'd do it apart from to change the membrane), then the client might be happy to accept a bit of breakthrough during the refill.

Get a digitally metered one in any case.
