Waterflo water tank no hot water

Hi, I just want to ask one question regarding the waterflo water tank. I moved to a new build of 4 bedrooms and they have a waterflo water tank. I have gas at the house and the problem is that water tank is used only for 2 showers and then the water is cold and i have to wait many hours in order to have hot water again. Can you please tell me why i need the water tank since through gas , i know that instantly i can have hot water any time? Why i need the tank? I understand maybe if two people can have shower at the same time. But is there a way to switch it off in order to have hot shower anytime i want? Can i do that by turning a valve off?

How big is the tank, how many litres??? I doubt it would only have enough water for two showers unless you’re having really long showers

Yeah that ain’t right. You should be able to have three or four showers off that before it’s empty. So unless you are having super long showers it is likely your cylinder is not being heated fully. Is your boiler heating it or are you relying on the immersion heater.

My boiler heating it. I just want to know if it is possible to switch it off sometimes. Can i do this? And i also what is the need of cylinder and heating it many times during the days instead of not using it and instantly heating the water from boiler?

With the cylinder you have the likelihood is once the cylinder is up to temperature it should be well insulated enough to maintain that temperature for a number of hours. Once you draw off hot water and cold water replaces it, depending on your hot water timing settings, it is likely the boiler will kick in again to bring the cylinder up to temp again. If you only turn on the hot water when you think you need it then that could be your problem. The incoming cold will start cooling the existing hot and if you only heat the water for half an hour prior to your shower then that again could be your problem

Of course i dont know my system and thats why i ask. The only thing i know is that i have never seen these cylinders in other countries i lived and they had gas system. They had only the boiler and you had hot water anytime instantly.

You’re talking about a combi boiler which would not run the amount of outlets you are talking about. It looks like someone has designed the system well with that in mind. I think your best bet is to get some one in to try and explain how it works to you

Thanks for the information. One last question. Lets assume that i run out of hot water and the cylinder is taking a while to heat the cold water. Is it possible in the meantime to use hot water by boiler and at the same time the cylinder heating on the cold water. Is it some sort of valve that i need to turn? Thanks a lot

Unless you have a combi boiler then no. It is likely That you have a heat only boiler or a system boiler both of which will only provide heat to warm your radiators or water cylinder
