hello all,
Some off you guys, i have had conversations with in the past, some of you may know that i am in the building maintenance sector, however i have just completed my nvq 2 in plumbing, and i have to say it was one of the most enjoyable experiance i have had during my working life, at 45 years old thats saying something. Now i find that i spend more time looking for plumbing work than any other work, My question to you guys is, i would like to go on and learn more within this industry, ive got a good 20 years and more of my working life remaining and am aware of changing trends, suggestions please, what do you think is the way forward, stick with current plumbing proccess or maybe renewables or is there something else out there, AND WHY, thanks guys look forward to your replies all welcome.

strange how things go im realy looking to do the opposite after 35 years plumbing and heating i trying diversifying into doing more of the maintaience stuff aim is to stay local rather than traveling miles in trafic plus i like doing something different each day im 55 by the way

#i do all kinds of plumbing, not much heating but a bit. I prefer doing maintenance stuff. i like having different stuff to do each day.

Have you done bathrooms or hot water systems? i remember doing my 1st bathroom. very rewarding. when you finish a "big" job. well big compared to doing maintenance.

i reckon standard plumbing is only going to change in the materials we use, heating will change over to renewables ( gonna run out of gas soon) control systems are being used more and more nowdays and are becoming more complicated - if you were to do any further training i'd suggest that. satchwell and trend systems on a bms system is the way forward in control - as insane as it seems !!

who does training on control systems matey ? do you know of any courses

cheers

its ok found it now :)

all i seem to be doing of late is fitting bathrooms, dont mind doing them plus good money, but i seem to be addicted to learning who would have thought that at my age, plus i am self employed loving it, but that is part of my problem, if i want to progress to nvq 3 and acs i have to be working for a gas safe engineer, cant be done if i am self employed. catch 22
