When you get a call you get there, sort it out, so simple. They say how much do I owe you. The answer is nothing sir pleasure to meet you and your wife have a lovely afternoon :)

surely a cal out charge?

It may be simple to you but it clearly wasn't for them and they expect to pay. al l be it a small price I would still have charged for it no matter how simple. they are paying for my time my knowledge and my travel

Must admit i would have charged 20 or so notes, just cover costs etc.

Got to agree with Tom i'm afraid, there's nothing wrong with being a bit generous but I dont think you should give it away for free.

Karma my friends! :) good PR tell there friends & family and it was a lovely drive.

OAPs as well

Page Ranking meant Public Relations how did that happen

I agree with all of you,

Public relations is worth its weight in gold, if you can sort a problem over the phone no problem. When your sitting in your garden on a sunday afternoon the sun is shining and the barby is on thats excellent karma.

But, if I'd travelled I think I'd have charged even if it was enough to cover the diesel.:)

Me! Probably not!

Most people give free estimates and if the job takes no longer than a simple estimate would. The PR is worth it.

We must I feel get away from the idea the customer is only a walking wallet.

If we keep on charging for small things, the next time you ask somebody directions they will charge for the info.

sorry but simple still means time/diesel/experience so min 30.00 to go anywhere no one works for nothing

If you charge a fair price the customer will still be pleased as they expect to pay and they will still recommend you if you charge a fair price and fix thier problem. Nothing is free in this world and people dont expect it to be. You've earnt your right to be a plumber and by charging someone you are within your rights and being fair so those that believe in Karma shouldn't worry

Unfortunatley the Karma of the forum was put at risk last night due to a individual from another forum deciding in their wisdow to try and create mayhem. Members please accept my apologies, this was as a result of my identity being posted else where. :(
