first thing I would have suggested is get some acrows in to support whats left of the chimney!!!!, Unbelievable, mind you having seen french fluing for myself I can only assume they have no flueing regs.

Trouble is they have and they can be stringent, but the thing with a lot of Brits and money, is that they are as good if not better as your good clients on trying to do it on the cheap, I say good with tong in cheek

He had the bloody cheek to query my advice, when I gave him bell book and candle

These are good people for seeing how to do it, believe that they are in the UK as well

the DTU document technique unifie, is like the bss, but I think a bit more laid out, and says what to use not like some of the bs and deemed to satisfy crap, with these it is or it is not
