Well apart from the long list as given below,I found out the other day that they had a law in the Roman Empire were people with skills had to have an apprentice,so that skills were passed on,not lost and learnt correctly
Do you think such a law would work today?
Seems to me a lot of skills are being lost 🙁

skills are only lost when they are no longer needed i can or i should say could wipe a four inch joint upright, knock up a back gutter or form a branch in a piece of four inch copper unfortunatly relying on any of these skills to put bread on my table now would leave me very hungry
actually the back gutter is a lie i only ever did one at coledge and it was that bad i swopped it for some one elses when it was time to get it marked
however there are several lengths of square lead rainwater with my name on hanging around hampton ct palace

Certain there is a connection there. Many of my jobs have produced puddles. I doubt its the first time the pun has been used in your presents. I am sure you are aware Plumbarius lead worker in latin.
As for your comments on the trade, i think you have it absolutely right. I fear the prices to fault find and repair for the average domestic client will in some cases / areas cause hardship. The complexity of controls and components associated with our trade, which is heading towards a higher level of renewable technology, coupled with profit driven investment in the materials. Needs to be address in training term very quickly. As the confidence of people wanting to go green will be lost if our industry cannot provide provide a professional and cost effective answer to the potential sort fall.

It's the green side I want to get into... Any recomended courses?
You will struggle to start a buisness based purely on green, it's still just seen as expensive as it is, I would get the fundmentals of heating and plumbing first if were you.

In the british museum london there is a piece of lead pipe wiped onto a brass stopcock looks like anything you may find gutting a victorian or edwardian house apart from the fact its 2000 yrs old!
