I think I know what one is but a C&G have once again started to refer to them, I would love to know how many working plumbers have heard of them cor's I hadn't.
Thanks

Thermal store.

It's the opposite of a normal indirect cylinder, where the water in the cylinder (jacket) heats the water flowing thro' the coil (tube).
The water in the jacket can have multiple sources, immersion heater, solar, gas, oil, soild fuel, nuclear if you want.

It is a thermal store isn't it? Reverse of a conventional hot water cylinder. Cylinder filled with primary water, coil fed by cold main to create domestic hot water?

I think its just another name for a thermal store
Is this from a book some where (if so which) or have you come across these things ??
I know what a thermal store is I think, are you saying they are one of the same thing??

Something in my head says thermal store too, probably because i've read it called that somewhere.
Why do they insist in calling things names no one will use. It just confuses people. Probably some european translation harmonisation rubbish.

Seems to be the way of it at the moment with the guilds, Tom !! I am all for not dumbing down but some of the language they use, the young'ens are being tested of there English (oops, sorry, Scottish) skills never mind what they know about plumbing.

It's a tube that is heated by a jacket of water! I have a bad memory associated with these. Was sent to replace a leaking one of these, surveyed by an apprentice. Turns out he didn't know what one was and had ordered a combination cylinder, got absolutely screamed at by the female customer who had no heating and hot water in the depths of winter!
