I have taken a photo (see below) of a whiteish coloured box connected between the water supply and a dishwasher, can someone tell me what it's for and what if any regs say they have to be fitted.

Dishwasher is in a domestic/commercial kitchen in the UK.

They call it an anti-leak device. The hose on Miele machines has a double skin,if water gets between the 2 layers,the unit senses it and a solenoid inside shuts off the water supply.I used to fit a lot of Miele in my former job and they were always very well built,usually twice the weight(and price!) of the usual models.
