Hi,

What make of solder & flux do professionals use on copper ?

Peter

LA-CO for me too. Never tried a branded solder. Just buy whatever the merchant has on that particular day I require a new roll.

Same here to be honest, only got the fernox stuff as it was free!!!!

Everflux is the best by far and i use any makes solder leaded on heating and lead free on potable

Powerflow any kind of solder
Prefer to use lead free on everything

i use lead free solder on everything not worth keeping leaded in case i use it in error powerflow flux

steve

before all the self cleaning flux`s I used to use yorkshire traditional or fry`s nowaday`s I prefer everflux ..dont mind laco but am personally not keen on powerflow but each to his own! as for solder no particular brand just as required i.e lead free for potable supplies and leaded where allowed:)regards turnpin

La-co and frys fluxite on gas or when Iam doing a new install, lead free solder on everything.

Laco and any brand of solder, leaded and unleaded. Solder is just solder. No difference whoever makes it.
If you want really neat joints use a traditional flux.

I like Powerflow, found LA-CO fumes to aggressive and it burns your skin. Probably to much hydrochloric acid in it.

Everflux and not sure which brand the solder is. I like laco as it's stronger and helps towards cleaning but I find the fittings go on easier with Everflux and been using it for years with it hardly ever letting us down.

I've never thought to look. Flux is white in a yellow tub and is horrible. Next pot is red with a black lid. Solder is on a green roll and is lead free.

Powerflow. my dad used it for years and years and told me not to use anything else or he'd save some of mothers cooking for me when I'm next over....... And that's a horrifying thought!

i hate power flow, it stinks and jams your copper before you even soldered it, or do you mean you dont solder it just put in powerflux?

I use laco and mixture of leaded / unleaded any brand. I have a couple of pots of brush in cap and a big tub for topping up. Give wee pots & brushes a regular wash out works a treat for me.

Everflux and fernox green unleaded for me too. Used it for years, again it's what my father told me to use! I have a giant tub of Laco in my van, but haven't used it. Prob never will!

LA-CO is best, cleans copper up well nice. any solder lead free for potable and lead for heating etc

LA-CO and pwerflux are good, but they are quite aggresive flux's. on new installs i.e clean copper i use a traditional non aggresive flux. as for solder any lead free brand is best!
