And what would you say that bit of soil pipe is made of just before the tiled wall? It looks more like lead than iron to me. I did recently have some lead someone had made up as a sort of adaptor between some cast iron soil and the pan connector he used. It was a nightmare to work with. And that one looks like it wouldn't take much disturbing to get it leaking. Obviously it needs supporting underneath better too. If your honest answer is you'd not fancy it because it looks like a pig, let me know!

Place a magnet on the part protruding part through the tile if it sticks it will be cast iron and ok to adapt or it maybe lead if you gently scrape with a file it will be soft and shiney More trickey but still doable let us know.....regards Turnpin
