whats normal for a IDEAL ICOS HE18

Hi, My elderly parents have just had a Ideal ICOS HE18 boiler installed, and I would like to know if its normal for the LED light to be flashing for about 5 minutes at a time before it eventually stays on continuously until switched off by the timer.

Unfortunately I wasnt around when the plumbers explained the functions of the boiler to my parents and the manual just mentions the 2 error codes and the fact the LED light flashes whilst the boiler is igniting and then when heating up the light stays on permanently. If the light flashes only when the boiler ignites should it really be flashing for 3 to 5 minutes?

For the time being I have told my parents to switch off the boiler overnight just incase of problems. But if this is normal for this boiler then it would put our minds at rest. Many thanks.

If the boiler does not light after three attempts, the fault code L followed by F should appear.

If any fault codes appear, you can find them in the Installation Manual, which the installer is supposed to leave behind. If not you can find them Here on page 47.

You should tell your parents to get the installer back.

the led will flash when theres demand for heat and its reached the desired temp,it will stay alight and not flash when the burner is lit,if its reaching temp too quickly then could be system fault ie pump,cold feed blocked
