Just out of interest really, was in discussions with another GSR about paperwork. He keeps records for any Gas work he does, so any alterations to pipework, tightness testing, new appliances, boiler servicing and landlords reports (in addition to the usual filling in benchmarks, registering appliances with gas safe etc.) - he said going forward he'd be keeping them for 7 years.

I have to admit we don't keep half as much as that, all the Landlords reports get saved of course, however for everyday work we don't record everything we do in report form for our personal records.

So what's does everyone else keep records to the extent of?

Also what are the rules these days? Gas Safe were a bit vague last time they inspected us 2 years ago, I know about Landlords reports 2 years min etc, but what about anything else?

invoices, whos paid and who owes, watch the money most important thing

apparently if you keep a diary it can be submitted to a court in the event of a dispute, useful if youre contacting
but I must admit I only keep CP12, services, commercial tightness test, etc (stuff done on regin forms) and benchmarks

You will have been advised on your ACS beat up to always keep paperwork. It is madness not to. If you have an incident that is your colateral mate. I use Gas Engineer Software (trade name).

You should keep a record of all the gas work you do the dates times and the work carried out paper or digital records it covers your arse if anything goes wrong remember someone else may go there after you . Kop
