So old customer, 78, husband died about 12 months ago.
Grant Vortex combi in the garage. The prv wasnt drilled through the wall.
Various calls water on the garage floor.
Piped through external wall and extended the filling loop to outside boiler casing using two red handled lever valves in the same orientation to avoid confusion.

This was done on Thursday afternoon as well as a service inc expansion vessel check and top up.

Friday lunchtime phone goes, water out the prv pipe pressure at 2.5 bar. I assumed expansion vessel hose, but had been fine. Said keep using it, it will find it's own level and will call monday night to sort.
Friday tea time phone goes again, water out prv, pressure still 2.5 bar. So out of curiosity I ask where are the red handles. Vertical is the reply. Well they should be horizontal and were left horizontal.
She closes them and starts telling me that I left them like that.
I said they were left horizontal and closed.
I explained that either she has a ghost or moved them herself.

Shes obviously opened them herself but doesn't remember.

What do you do?!!!

Over on "o.a.p's forum.co.uk" she's telling her mates how the plumber accused her of moving the handles when he left them vertical - she thinks he's losing it. 😂

Have you seen adverts for the Jepp valve?
Some sort of idiot proof filling loop
We have started installing them, £60 ish, but can’t be over pressurised, max 1.3 bar iirc. End user presses a button and it fills. Although Simon, it’s one of the reasons I tend to disconnect a filling loop. If you like to leave them connected, learn from this and photograph them in said left position, then when it’s a case if you said /they said - you have proof, they’ll soon back down.

And technically removing them is the legal and correct way of doing it, which most people on this forum say they do. Not that I've often come across one that has actually been removed!

I'm just glad I'm not you, Simon. I'd now be wondering... am I sure I didn't leave them vertical? :) (I can't lose it as I've never had it!)

Def horizontal. Left it on as she was struggling with everything.
Think it could be dementia setting in.
Going to speak to her son.

Take the handles off or fit a prv set it at 1bar it won't cause a issue if she fiddles , make her a cuppa tea and try a friendly chat . Regards Kop
