hello people looking to purchase a decent budget boiler having narrowed it down to the following 2 boilers...

baxi main combi 25 eco HE "A" rated

baxi duo tec combi HE 28 "A" rated

I have been informed the baxi duo tec is the same as a "baxi platinum" and the "potterton gold"

any other boilers i should consider?

which should boiler should i purchase? your advice would be appreciated :)

i would go with the duotec, better heat exchanger and being a larger kw better hot water flow rate

Cheers gasman for your thoughts, is there any other boilers i should consider?

potterton performa 30 he sadly that cant be fitted now as a band b unless the order for it went in before jan next year

i was also considering the baxi main 24 or the baxi main 24he and realised they were both band B, i think i'll be going ahead with the baxi duotec

they are the same boiler as the performa, shame the efficiency screw is being tightened once again

definitely a shame as i hear they are a good boiler, i guess it would be better in the long run to go for the A rated duotec, parts would easily be accessible compared to the B rated boilers as they are being phased out

thats not really true baxi have around 8 million band b boilers out there (baxi quote)parts aint a issue

That is what i had thought because it is such a popular boiler, i was told to go for the A rated due to B rated being phased out parts etc, guess i was told wrong

I put in a platinum 28 nearly 5yrs ago, its been good as gold, I wont fit anything baxi nowadays because of a couple of bad exp, but everyones entitled to their own opinion, the latest generation of baxi products seems to be good.

Baxi Platinum or Potterton Gold give you a 5 year guarantee, decent spec, grundfos pumps, Siemens PCB etc. Cant really go wrong for the price, you can get duotecs for £515+Vat at Plumb Center at the moment but to be honest your better off paying the extra £70-100 for that 5 year peace of mind.

went ahead and purchased a baxi duo tec 28kw brand new with flue from ebay from a private seller with 2 year warranty £650
