I am in a bit of dire straits with my accounts ever since forming a ltd and getting an employee on paye. I never really hired a permanent accountant and a lot of what I do is guess work. From two guys I worked for before I only heard horror stories about accountants who were always late with everything and never gave a toss so I was very sceptical to be paying 1-2k a year to high street accounting Co for their junior to wizz over my books submit inacurate returns which is what I can do anyway. But obivously came to realise that I desperately need professional help.

What are your experiences with accountants?

I have someone that runs the day to day accounts and paperwork and then they go to an actual accountant for end of year. Never had an issue myself. But have heard stories from other people. But they may just be stories.

Do you then pay a one off for the accountant and per day for your admin? Do you ever meet them face to face?
Cheers

Getting a good accountant is very important. You cant run a business if you are having to guess at your profits. All my accounts are done by my accountant and run through software which links to my business bank account. I then use Receiptbank to send all invoices to as you have to have digital records now. You can then cross reference it and make sure nothing is missed. He also does all my CIS, VAT, payroll etc etc.

A accountant is a must in my opinion especially when ltd and becoming a employer , I got in a muddle once with CIS it was a night mare to sort out put the wrong figures in and ended up with a tax bill 10 times higher than it should of been missed the January deadline so had to pay interest on the amount owed 🥴🥴. Kop

Ours are done by a professional Accountancy company. It's not cheap but is worth every penny. That's one thing I never worry about. There's enough to deal with without having that on your shoulders too.
