Why is my boiler condensate not emptying into the pipe?

Previously no issues but now when I disconnect the condensate pipe from the boiler there is an audible air escape from the condensate pipe then the boiler happily drains into the pipe and you can hear it drain into the mains waste. Is this an air lock issue?

Yes, possibly needs an airbreak or repipe if its effecting the boiler operation.

Thanks, would a plumber touch this if it’s part of the boiler system or would it need to be a gas engineer?

Check the inside of the Tee where the condensate joins, it may be full of grease. (yellow circle)

Yeah besides manually unblocking buy a packet of soda crystals for a quid or so and use to dissolve the grease in your sink outlet every now and then.

Most supers sell it as a washing additive but it's an exceptional degreaser, nothing fancier needed....

yes many folk mix them up and then you get a block of it in the u bend. and if not flushed away correctly and it sets solid!!!!
