i was hoping to post it up in order, but the forums gone funny and photobuckets all over the shop i intended it to be a guide for newly qualified gsr engineers or as you said people who mainly install but want to service a step by step guide, the fan was replaced as well, what happened to this boiler was condensate pipe had no fall trough the wall, had not been serviced for 3 years, due to the worcester having a aluminium heat exchanger the bottom of the heat exchanger blocked solid, condensate backed up went into the fan and blew it up,as the whole lot came out to do the fan,i serviced it at the same time, and sorted the condensate pipe i will post up other boiler strip downs as i do them, very use full for other gsr engineers just hopeing to post them on here as i think anyone can look at photobucket

good idea mate, I serviced my vokera excel 80sp but thats not as complex as new boilers ! so i will definetely find them very useful ! some how the forum decides when you can and cant post pictures, admin should try and get it sorted as its very annoying lol

Nice post. Have stripped down a fair few worcesters now but the first one was tricky. Especially as I dropped my torch down Heat exchanger!

I done one on friday that was four years old and was going to lock out after 5-10 mins.
The gasket was so badly worn that the boiler was vitiating/ recirculating POC rather than burning with fresh air.

CO was going from 75ppm to 300ppm+ in space of 5 minutes

nice, worcester need to re think there mi,s on this one,had a butchers on the review center some poor joe custard had his catch on fire and totally re decorate his kitchen mmmmmmmm crispy, wish he had had a service now,a proper one not flash a fga at it,or more than likely no gsr involved since it was fitted

Great post gasman. Very usefull. I think some pics with a quick explanation will help loads. Look forward to your next one's

always wondered how you service one of these if the flue is side entry and cemented in wall

ant

if flue is going to the lhs is ok but if is going side way to rhs then is flue out or boiler out

Hi Gas Man. Could you tell me why water would be leaking from the top of the hex where the hex and fan assembly meet. Water in the bottom of the case and water leaking when at full rate. I removed the sump plate at the bottom of the hex, no drama there. Is the gasket at fault here or is it condensate water as the hex is blocked.

Sounds like the heat exchanger flue ways/baffle is blocked and the pressure is backing up. Did you test the fan pressure across the heat exchanger? What was the combustion analysis like?
