Hi All,
My dearly beloved has decided, that through years of work and years of neglect that she has finally succumbed.
For 18 odd years she has been with me - longer than my children have.
I have racked her at times for emergency parts and have installed numerous second hand pumps on her.
She has finally given up and decided that the gas valve can no longer operate reliably.
Intermittent ignition and flame drop outs while on full fire.
Of all the parts I have available, I don't have a replacement gas valve - nor a pilot solenoid.
I have just had a look at her just now and there is a small leak on the heat exchanger.
It is with the utmost dread that I have to replace her.
My wife - the main problem & the one causing me the most distress, has just informed me that we are to have to frostiest and coldest morning for 5 years. I don't believe everything the news tells me, but I really don't want to be sleeping in a tent in the back yard to find out whether its the truth or not.
So guess what I'll be doing tomorrow......
I'll be calling some old school heating contractors to find out whether or not they have any gas valves to suit!
The heat exchanger is not dripping on the burners, so that can stay a while - it may just be a gasket or something.
Or alas, I will be installing a new boiler.
I have a couple in stock so I'll let you know how I get on.
Apparently the gas valve is working now - the heating has come on.
There still might be some life in the old girl yet!!!!!!!!
