Hi Gang (newbie here)

I'm new to this forum and I'm having one heck of a problem with:Water Presure @ My Home.

I bought a water presure gauge to see what the water presure was comig off the main in my house.

It read: 60 pounds.
The Wilkins Valve #NR# can go way beyond that. However I believe that the NR3 is a reducing valve, that's what got me NUTS. Can I turn the presure UP

I turned the presure up on bolt that's on top of the NR3 valve. (I don't even know if I did that right)? There's where the water comes in off the street to the Main of my house. And the presure gauge I hook-up on the garden hose valve didn't move no matter which way I turned that bolt with my cresent wrench on NR3 valve. To indicate if the water presure when UP or DOWN,nothing! Same water presure from the begining 60pds.

Question(s) please:

1. What am I doing wrong
2. Can I boost-up the water presure to my hse.to 75 pounds

Need your directions please ;)

Thank You ALL

a preasure reducing valve does what it says on the tin its not going to increase the preasureif you have 60psi thats a very high preasure you would be lucky to see more tha 45 psi in london ,why do you want more ?

Re: Wilkins Valve ~ Model # NR3 Here's " Y "

Hi Stevetheplumber :)

The pressure at all the sinks, tub, showers are kinda low in pressure.
That the reason why I asked about this problem.

We had a Keil-tec problem in all the plumbing in ALL the homes in our commuinty. We live in Nevada and the HARD MINERALS in the water is; HORRIBLE.

The need for a water softener is a MUST. The deposit really clogg-up the pipes. We had a CLASS A ACTION SUIT and won. All the house were repiped. Thought that the pressure would be much higher "NO WAY"

So as far as I'm concerned its O.K. but me wife hummmm! You know how that goes . . . lol

Hey guy THANKS 4 the answer "REDUCING VALVE " that's all it will do.
