Im assuming It is its Were The Cooker should Be

You dont use bayonets for hobs, they are used for cookers.
If it is a gas pipe and is sized adequately it can be connected to a hob.

If gas, even for a cooker it needs more than a bayonet.
Probably be a simple job for gas man to get it right
