Wireless room stat

Is it possible to fit a wireless room stat to an existing system?

Been to look at a job and for some reason the room stat has been fitted about 18 inches above a radiator which is causing it to not work properly.

I figured the easiest way round that rather than having to lift floorboards or put surface trunking up etc. to move that current stat

I've not fitted any of this new fangled wireless stuff so what do i need?
I was thinking that the sender/receiver gets wired into the main junction box or where the current room stat is and then the wireless stat goes in a suitable location, is that right?

Yes you can, some I have done the transmitter can be wired to the existing wiring on the thermostat, others can be directly wired into the boiler.

Depends on the setup you have for the best options.

Thanks Squirrel, it's a normal gravity system i think the roomstat is a honeywell one

Presuming its fully pumped and not gravity hot water pumped central heating, easiest way I'd put the transmitter in the airing cupboard wire it up to the wiring unit if easily accessable, then the house hold can't play with it, then put the thermostat in the coldest room in the house.

The one I put in my own house I have put on a piece of string and hung it round my girl friends neck, so the heat follows her around, she still moans about something else though.

Its got the normal hot water cylinder and CH pump. Wiring unit is easy to get to, it's on the floor in the airing cupboard!

Lol at the girlfriend, 3 daughters and the girlfriend and they're always flipping cold. Came home friday and it was like a sauna in the house!
