Just a quick one chaps - there are 2 pins on the thermostat - one for the live the other for the short length of cable running from T. Does it matter which way round these are - there is no indication on the thermostat itself.

Nope. Just one in one out
 
In theory it does not matter,in practice you will find when thermostat fitted correctly,you can only wire one way as you will be restricted by length of cable from T
