hi guys got called out to this non- condens junior today , cust says it keeps locking out . when i got there i reset it and it all worked perfectly in hw and htg. hadnt got time to get too involved . cust says it stays on for an hour or 2 and then locks out. checked the flue was ok and gas wp . the fan seemed to be ok although i didnt do any tests on it. just wondering if anyone has had this fault on this boiler before. thanks

Circulation would be my first place to look. I always carry x800 on my van!

forgot to mention the lockout light flashes four times per second ,

aps tubes check for damage could have small pin hole in

had this fault on friday was aps but told cust if it happens again it will need new board gave cust option of starting cheapest first

thanks guys for your input im back there tomoz will post an update in a couple of days

update- i called in the other day and whilst taking the front fascia off the boiler went to lockout so im thinkin the board , i checked the hw flow turbine and that was ok so fitted a new board job done . ta for your help guys

I think the rule of thumb is go for the cheap bit first and if you get it wrong tell the customer one normally takes the other one out.

it gives me a lot of pleasure knowing that some of you guys have the same problems that i sometimes have fixing boilers, there doesnt seem to be any hard and fast rules apart from common sense and experience , and both of these can let us down on certain days. Reading the posts i can see that some guys are fixing boilers on a daily basis and still at times struggle.Following logical fault finding doesnt solve some problems, especially intermittant faults. i know the problems i have are caused by working on too many different boilers and not being able to specialise on just a few. the great unknown for me is the pcb and although manufacturers would say too many are changed they very often seem to be the problem, and maybe we should be doing installer courses on pcbs rather than the boilers so that we can understand them better as they run the show. Anyway ive got that off my chest and feel better. Happy Easter guys !

When the i juniors lock out, occasionally, and with no particular pattern, run the heating for around 15 minutes, take off the combustion cover, open a hot water tap and see if the fan stops, fairly common fault but a swine to catch if you dont know it, the fault lies with the board and the aps will sometimes have been heat damaged by the flames coming back around the combustion chamber, everything else except the aps is heat resistant and doesnt get affected.

If you get flame failure on the i junior rsf, reset, wait for the attempted igniition, put your fingers behind the front panel, thumb at the front and squeeze the control board box, if it starts crackling and then fires up, its the board playing up.
