hi guys,

I was wondering what you guys replace when doing a service on a worcester boiler?

I was going to replace the sparks, burner seal. Is there anything else I should be changing when doing a service?

Is there something like a service kit like vaillant has got? What type of parts would I need to buy?

Thank you in advance lads.

Kind regards

Ron

What do the manufacturers instructions say mate?

PS. any news on the Vaillant storage vessels?
The usual stuff checking fan pressure etc ... if you are below a certain figure you need to clean the main heat exchanger but it should be done annually and not just when it’s too late. Therefore I am asking in case someone has done this service before. Yes got some new informations for you

Just change the burner seal and possibly the electrodes if they ain't in good condition. You can get the gasket separate or in a pack along with the electrodes

Thank you Sam, I thought it was just those two things. I wanted to make sure if there was something else I have to change.

A lot of parts and will take quite a few hours. What would you charge for this?
I believe a proper boiler service with all **** and safety checks will take at least 2hours. I am ok with that as I like do jobs like this. The rates here in London vary... east London going rate is about 60/70 but in central or west London it’s a lot higher. Such a service can’t be done less than 150 but each individual to their own.

What are you charging for a proper service Worcester or Vaillant ?

£100 Vaillant with new burner seal (no other parts)
Don’t really do any major Worcester services, people only want a standard service until it breaks down

I don’t k ow what people understand under service but for me it clearly means electrodes, burned seal, if heat insulation foam ( on Vaillant boilers ) has to be changed that will be done too, FGA, visual checks, expansion vessel draining and re charging, cleaning the burner, gas rating, cleaning mains water filter, cleaning the Magna filter, flushing the main heat exchanger through after I cleaned it, cleaning the siphon, checking flue integrity. Once my safety checks are done I can leave the property and the customer in good faith that I have done a proper service which the op has paid for.

£100 including burner seal?
I don’t do much Worcester as majority have got baxi, biasi, ideal, or Vaillant.

What does your service include?

Alright, I would have thought there isn’t any difference in between a service and s service :) I assume everyone does a service different
For me there is a standard service - cleaning, adjusting and checking safe operation (no parts)
A major service - as above but replacing parts like seals and electrodes which adds time and money

Got you. I neu offer one device which is the in your case the major one. Do you service a lot of boilers or do you do more fault finding and installs?
