can anyone advise. my bar gauge reads over 3 and should be at 1-1.5. its a 28i junior from about 2003 and has two taps on pipes under the boiler. one of these lets water in and increases the bar. im not sure how to decrease it

You need to open a drain off to let some out. Then you need to find out why the pressure is rising.

got one of these boilers.
problem is you may have topped it up to much as i have notice mine fluctuates between 1 and 2 bar as its running. this depends what it is doing at the time and then settles to 1 3/4 bar.
the setting on this boiler is i believe 2bar.

turn of your boiler.
check the filling loop valve open and closes properly if not repair it, if so...
put a pipe ont the drain cock located at the bottom of the rad next to your f/b door.
open the cock untill water comes out..
shut of after about 2 litres have run of.
turn on boiler check preassure.
top up or release untill it reads 2bar
job done.
if your not sure call a plumber to do it for you £40-60 or your being robbed depending on your location.

Simply, read the manufucture instaruction where you can locate the pressure safety valve ..release the water there,,or find a drain valve somewhere radiator..get spanner and open slowly and release water..until go back to 1.0 bar and observe..if still go up after 1 hour or less.I think check the filling loob ..you can find this below to your boiler..It look like a flexible pipe...where you can toped up water to your boiler..Ok see you..cheers

Never release presure from the presure release valve ,9 times out of 10 it will never seal again correctly and you will require a new head or valve
System presure should be betwen 1 and 1.5 bar wnen cold
