Morning all

Had a call from a custard a couple of weeks ago about the above making a funny noise

To cut it short, when I got there the condense trap & internal condense hose was full with black grit.

Cleaned it all out & boiler was working fine.

Had another call yesterday about the same thing, so I flushed it all & boilers was working fine when I left.

But it looks like it could be coming from the heat exchanger.

Anyone had this before????

Thanks peeps

Is it the bean tin heat exchanger? Might need cleaning out or replacing? Fins might be disintegrating?

They do get a lot of grit in them, if the trap has never been emptied it could have backed up.

I'm not sure what heat exchanger is in it tbh, but it seems to be a bit like the grit found inside the central heating system / rads

Boiler seems to run fine

Thanks

Check the FGR and the fan pressure is as MI's fubar1000. Also gas pressure/gas rate. I don't get to work on that many but knowing the basics are ok at least rule out the obvious regards flame and flue function yeh? :)

Yes if it's the older one (possibly BG rebrand) hex cream crackered. Take of front of burner (alu plate on front of burner.) if it's brown and full of silt just sell them a new boiker.

If it's the SI (kebab) get service kit. If the burner feels like a tin of beans when you run hand down side ........ Walk away. Slowly and then break into a sprint towards your sales literature
