Hi,
Have had new system installation done 2 years ago and all has been well until now. Vaillant Ecotec plus 637, sealed system, pressurised water cylinder, dual heating zones, external controls, secondary hot water return ring, 26 rads Victorian house, all new pipework, hard wired CO monitor, Everad inhbitor. Original plan was to re-use existing Worcester Bosch system boiler. Upon fire up, found that this particular W-B model was the only one that did not allow external controls (!), hence swapped for a new Vaillant.
Got Vaillant engineer out this week as was getting S53 - he will be back to change the heat exchanger, under warranty.
He did point out that all the parts of the flue were not Vaillant, deep in-draw of breath, but will make the warranty repair provided installer agrees to change.
The flue is made up of Vaillant flue collar out of top of bolier; Vaillant 87 degree bend; Worcester-Bosch horizontal flue <1m long; W-B right angle; W-B through external wall, then W-B plume extension and plume kit. All screwed and riveted, and exhaust fume tight, fitted by Gas Safe installer.
Q. Is he right to insist this horizontal length and right angle at least must be changed to Vaillant? Installer is not keen to refit, since they are compatible, right? Cannot see an insistence on using only Vaillant parts for the flue kit in the Installation manual. Who is right? Vaillant or the Installer?
