totally agree, 9 times out of 10 ,its a worcester
they know its a problem ,because of the trickle con trap, very prone to freezing, but then again its all work that pays the bills.
so for me ,i hope they dont come up with answer.nice work in winter time
As old plumber points out Worcester are running a big ad campaign at the moment,so expect these problems for a while yet.Aluminium/Silicon heat exchangers should help to generate some work too.
The pipe work to most of them were 32 mm and one was 40 mm and still froze one I went to that was a cdi the pipe work was 32 mm from inside and went outside and dropped to a gully the gap between the pipe finishing and the gully was about half a foot and what happens was a nice big icicle formed and blocked the pipe work causing it to back up.
We are getting some serious flack from our customers. They have paid top dollar for a premium product which doesnt work in cold weather when they need it most even though it s fitted to manufacturers instructions. I empathise with them and wherever possible we are repiping them internally to hopefully combat this problem.
meeting vailiant rep next week to consider switching from worcester and we have been fitting mostly worcesters for 19 years. vailiants are cheaper too and apart from their entry level ecotec pro, they have the condensate siphon which dumps the condensate out faster, as does the worcester cdi's and old he's, which we have and that still frozen but not as likely. it does seem that worcesters freeze the most, didn't go to many frozen Main boilers and we have fitted loads of them too but had a few more problems with them going faulty.
