customer left filling loop conected as the boiler was losing pressure,i was called in and when i got there the filling loop was connected and on, filling the boiler, but rather than go out prv it was going through the boiler and coming through the condensate trap, the only explanation for that was the heat ex was damaged,i took bottom cover off heat ex and i could see water, not a lot but defo water, has anyone ever come across this before.

yes i had on the other day where the Prv went though a wall and then outside, well thats what i thought the prv out let went into the wall and that was it i cut the prv inside removed the section inside the wall to find it capped !!! the customer had left the filling loop connected and fill water was peeing out of everything it could prv HE, fixed it in the end and still working now (hopefully)

seen this before on another boiler. boiler was losing pressure and when re-pressurised water was running out of the condense pipe - hole in heat exchanger.

Yes I have has this on Alu heat exchangers. That's why water quality is critical

seen this fault hundreds of times greenstars seem prone to it new hex time

yes you are all correct ,hole in heat ex,no one at worcester had heard of this before,or maybe been ignorant to the fact that there boilers are tat,i have been quoted £440 +vat for new heat ex does that sound about right.

Desrob. For that much I would do a like for like replacement of whole boiler.

The heat exchangers have a 10 year warranty dont they? Call Worcester and get them to sort it, if they dont fix it under warranty its probably still cheaper for them to do a fixed price for repair.

they will take water sample and say its not under warranty as failed test , its their get out clause!!
