Getting pressure loss on this boiler ( at my caravan) Pressure on gauge is going to over 3.5bar, then at some point must be dumping through PRV, still monitoring it, why is PRV not releasing earlier and what's causing pressure to climb that high in the first place, filling loop is closed

Should imagine your expansion vessel has gone, as for the reason it shows 3.5 on the gauge and then blows prv, i think its just the accuracy of the gauge

Recon your wright about the expansion vessel. Its either lost pressure through normal time thing or is perforated. The PRV should blow at 3 bar but they are not always that accurate. Always a good idea to check the pressure gauge as wells.

Everyone's nailed it Kirk, gauge ain't the best on them, if re pressurising vessel does not sort it, make sure flexi hose ain't blocked where it goes into manifold only a circlip to pull, if it is use a cable tie to unblock have a bucket handy pal

Ever had that feeling you're about to teach your grandmother to suck eggs?

Haha not at all, I teach theory side of gas safety now, haven't fixed a boiler for years, I can still remember the faults on the old school permanent boilers

Cheers
Don't have any tools as we are here in wife's car so will have a look next weekend

Just checked boiler and pressure is back down to 1.5 bar, and heatings been on constant since this morning

Cheers

is the loop passing failing that its the EV or if your very unlucky a split hex,no plate hex in this as its a twin pass heat exchanger but this would be a very rare fault

Good point Mark, it does happen, had it twice, simply isolate cold supply to boiler to test this theory if all else is good

Cheers don't think it's exchanger cause we turn water off to van when not there, but when we arrived heating was off and gauge at zero
