Just come back from a call out, intermittent heating and hot water.

Boiler was serviced (not by me I may add) a few weeks ago.

On arrival you could here the boiler struggling to stay lit on low flame, and go to reset after ramping up to try and stay lit.

Checked the ratio with FGA, well out. Managed to get it sorted on low (service mode) but on high it went off the scale, FGA not happy.

Anyway, I phoned Worcester technical to get the reset settings for the prettl bosch gas valve, the older type with the large air adjustment in the combustion chamber but no one could give me it. I have had to get it once before as had a similar issue before but it took 4 attempts speaking to different people to get an answer. I hate these valves, always seem to have problems getting them back anywhere near requirements.

need to go back in the morning and was hoping not to waste half the day on the phone to technical, any one here know it?

Cheers, Sam

stick a new gas valve in, once youve fiddled with those valves (and you dont know how much the previous engineer did) it gets real difficult to reset them

Funny you say that, ordered a new one this morning, going back to fit tomorrow. I was there for another hour this morning, Worcester technical weren't very helpful again.

Something is a miss, couldn't get anywhere near acceptable so new valve it is.

Even the worcester tech guy said they are crap.

Cheers for the reply

Sam
