Hi All,

Just looking at a problem on a Worcester Junior combi. It's a junior. The pressure sits just under 1 bar. The boiler seems to work if no heating is on, so the hot water works, I have turned the heating off. If the heating comes on, the boiler builds up pressure going up to about 1.5 bar and then releases going back down and then the warning light flashes until it is reset. It does this within about 10 seconds from the heating coming on so hopefully you will be able to see this when you come. The while cycle of going up and down happens within a couple if minutes. Any possible suggestions?

thanks

Have you read the manufacturers fault finding instructions? They give you a good few suggestions depending on what you're seeing!!

What's your experience of fault finding?

Not masses at the moment but growing weekly. I always like to research the various solutions before jumping in feet first, genes the post but thanks for any advise so far.

A good guide to diagnosing is knowing the flash sequence ... Is it a Worcester Junior or Greenstar Junior by-the-way .. just so that those replying are on the same page :)

Here ya go .... 24i.jpgWhat of the suggested items in the picture have you checked so far?

Hi,
Hot water no problem. Switched on CH sequence started then boiler clunks & clanks, hissing inside. Not dumping water though. I took the screw out of the pump, inserted a small flat head and there was movement but when re- ran the CH pump didnt appear to spin just got really hot so i am assuming the pump is knackered.
thanks

I'd agree with that kewat66... All you need do is prove that you have power to it when there's a call for heating to be absolutely certain :) You may still be able to change just the head on these..?

Sounds like the pump if it isn't spinning when there is demand. Another thing to look at on these is the diverter motor, I have had a few that have stuck in the hot water position and when it fires up the heat has nowhere to go and the boiler trips on the overheat. Turn the power off to the boiler and back on again, when the power goes back on the diverter motor should move up and down once.

There's no diverter on the worcester junior mfgs ... double skinned heatexchanger, the pump only comes into action for the heating :) Greenstar junior has a diverter, maybe you're getting them mixed up? :)

I did assume a greenstar junior, not the standard efficiency one.

Hi All,

Quick update. Changed pump head as suggested and all working correctly.
thanks for the help.
