Story: Currently picking up alot of Oil servicing work, the company I worked for; for two years went bust Last year. I Deceided to go self employed about six months ago, my ex boss handed me all off his customer base and oil and gas work, all the boilers we did were worcester and i have taken on all the servicing work.

Of the top of your heads Do you need to be OFTEC registered to maintain the 5 year garantee on Worcester oil boiler?

I know with the gas ones the warrenty only stands if the boiler is serviced anually by a GS engineer which is no problem for me as i am.

Atm cant afford to turn down anywork, But also i dont want to invalidate any customer warrenties on their oil boilers!

Cheers

I think it has to be signed off by OFTEC as opposed to installed. Not 100% certain though. Certainly the regs required a signing off by OFTEC.

Makes me wonder why I bother with the exams sometimes as there's no profit in signing these machines off.

Iam certain that the initial installation must signed off by an oftec reg person to get the garantee, iam just wondering wether they must be serviced anually by an oftec reg person anually to maintain the garantee.

I think they do (the servicing).

I've found that few of my customers are inclined to want their boiler serviced after the first year (perhaps it's recovering from the installation costs?) Also found that many customers only want their boiler serviced when it is showing signs of going wrong. Seems to be a general trait for all sorts of things nowdays.

Probably but the engineers rarely check if its been serviced regularly that i know of and if the records been filled in i doubt they go to the hassle of contacting OFTEC to see if theyre registered.
