I've recently joined the local parish council - not ingenious but unusual. Most useful is recommendation.

I think part of the key to getting work is simply getting yourself known. Advertising in local free paper's helps. Most people I think, usually look in the ads of the free press for Plumbers.

So does canvassing local organizations such as churches and social clubs and so on.

Give special deals and the likes.

Ask yourself where would you look for a Plumber if you had a leak? Then advertise there. .
