Shower tray not flush to wall

Shower tray not flush to wall

Hello All,

I have a shower tray installed and it is sitting away from the wall. I am going to put Mapei shower waterproofing kit on the walls and then tile down to it, but the gap looks too big for the 7mm tiles I wish to use. What are my options? The gap is about 10mm one end and just shy of 15mm in the corner. Thanks

Levelling compound. Multiple layers

Levelling compound. Multiple layers

Hi.
I've just used Mapei Ultimate Leveller 1210 to cover a very irregular concrete floor in our house. It's the first time I've done this particular kind of job and I'm quite please with the results. It's a fairly big area at 21 m2. (We'll, I thought it was big.

Leveling uneven kitchen walls for porcelain tiling

Leveling uneven kitchen walls for porcelain tiling

I will be tiling with 60*30 procelain tiles. They weight about 3.57kg each which is about 20.6kg/sqm
The wall is not flat and it's plastered. Then ripping the current tiles off, some of the plaster also came off and when doing the "coin test" I can feel that some bit of plaster are not sound.
Considering all this I think that tiling over the existing plaster is a no go. How can I solve the situation?
I was thinking about doing the...

Tile pattern, French but not the exactly

Tile pattern, French but not the exactly

Hello!

I'm buying natural stone for floor in my house. Wife would like to do a French pattern.

One of the sellers has tiles sized

15x15cm 15x30cm 30x30cm 30x60cm

and sells them as French pattern but it's not the right sizes for it.

Can a similar pattern done with these sizes? Does it have a name?

Cheers!

16 Square Meter Domestic Bathroom Tiling Work Malton North Yorkshire

I have a job in Malton North Yorkshire, and I’m giving it a try on here (you never know).

The job is for a 16m sq en-suite. I’m using 600x300 ceramics- and some mosaic tiles to form vertical lines to break it up a bit. There is one window to half tile around, some walls to half tile and a shower area to full tile.

I have placed abacus elements board around most of the tile area, though a small amount of painted...

Advice needed for fitting shower door frame?

Hi, We're currently adding an en-suite to a downstairs bedroom, everything is going well so far, BUT, ive encountered a small problem? To install the en-suite, obviously we've had to put in a stud wall, which is plumbed perfectly and the shower base fits in like a glove. However when we were putting up the stud wall we were, more concerned about getting everything straight, for the shower base, but upon double checking measurements, the...

How much adhesive needs removing between tiles & covering a chip

How much adhesive needs removing between tiles & covering a chip

Hi,

Looking for advice mainly on how much adhesive I should remove from between the tiles in a shower before grouting. I stupidly didn't remove a lot of it before it thoroughly dried, and while there is room to put grout in the gaps between tiles over the adhesive (in other words, the adhesive doesn't fully fill the voids), there is quite a lot of adhesive in the gaps as you can see below, and the inner edges of the...

Sealing limestone question

Sealing limestone question

Hi all,

We had an outdoor limestone patio laid at the start of June (finished circa 07/06/24). We are yet to grout it. I'd like to seal it before doing so and I have bought Lithofin Stain stop. I have read a lot regarding its application however I have received conflicting information about when it is best to do so. I have been told that waiting to seal it doesn't matter/ we need to wait 13 weeks/ we need to wait a year to let it effloresce etc.

What is...

Marmox multi boards and adhesive?

Marmox multi boards and adhesive?

I'm going to be installing Marmox multi boards, on two (internal walls) I'll use 4mm, just so I have a nice flat surface to tile with (the surface underneath the plaster is a bit rough and not plumb. The 4mm need to be 'stuck' with cement based adhesive.

On the external two walls I'll use 20mm for some extra insulation, without eating too much into the room size. For these I'm going to be dot and dabbing, then using the fixing dowels.

For the...

Tanking Recommendation

Tanking Recommendation

Hi, Im looking for a recommendation for a liquid tanking. I have to use a liquid tanking membrane, external tile board or replacing the walls isnt an option. The walls are plastered over plasterboard (paramount walls) Ive removed all the paint so back to bare plaster and they are clean and sound. (Tiles are 100 x 33cm large rectified ceramic tiles 7mm -they come in at 13kg a sqm so will be under 20kg limit)

Sealing limestone pavers

Sealing limestone pavers

Hi all, we've laid some limestone pavers and today used a stain protector as advised by the company who sold the pavers.

We used lithofin stain stop, which claims to not change the stones but it's made ours a lot darker which is gutting. It's been a long DIY job and I'm kicking myself for not doing a patch test.

Is there anyway to remove the sealant and restore the limestone?
