So with all the news about heat pumps I just started idly thinking about investigating in more detail. So I came here and browsed a bit and from what I understand heat pumps are just not going to work for me. I have two houses:
Early 1980s, 4 bed detached, copper microbore pipework...
NOISY HEATING SYSTEM.
Morning all, I have a heating system, installed about 3 years ago and its quite noisy, boiler is first floor above lounge and when sat with the system running the pipe work seems to generate a fair bit of noise, so my question is if I lag the pipe work would that help...
Hello,
We were due to have an air source heat pump installed on a grant scheme on Monday, with radiator size upgrade, but retrofitting using the existing pipework.
The calculations have been done to show it's viable etc...
However their engineer has just (!!) looked at the photos taken by the...
I can’t find anything in black and white for this.
I usually go through the wall in 40mm waste and don’t insulate.
Does 40mm now need to be insulated as well as 30mm?
Saw this last night and wondered about a couple of points.
1 You see the state of the pipework at 7m30s and at 7m54s he says he will recommend the customer gets the system flushed. I am thinking that the pipework shown is not
like it throughout or surely no amount of flushing will help that...
I am having an ASHP, radiators and pipework installed to replace storage heaters. How can I check whether the proposed pipework and pump can cope with the heat demand? The installer is proposing a single circuit with 14 radiators with a combined heat demand of around 8kW. I hear heat pumps...
I’m currently considering how best to do the pipework from the shower trap (90mm, 1.5”) and I just wanted some input from you guys and which is the best option, as shown in the attached photos?
Never done this kind of thing before and I am a little bit concerned that my pipework may not be able...
Hi folks
There's a couple of isolation valves on our radiator pipework (vented system). One started to weep a while back, but luckily stopped after a bit of tweaking. I've since learned they shouldn't be there, and so with some plumbing work coming up which will require a drain down, I'm...
Hi I'm laying the pipework in for a wetroom showertay
The trap is outlet 50 mm so was thinking of running it all in 50 mm
so does this sound ok , any problems with syphonage or anything else for that matter
2 mtrs Straight , drops down through soffit , turns left ( swept bend )1.5 mtrs into...
Hi I'm tying / hoping to run a drain for an Unvented indirect cylinder
I need to run it now as I want to close in the building ( its in a loft conversion )
I'm having great difficulty getting someone to fit the whole system
for me , it was being done by a guy but now he can not do it as...
I have a Santon TP210B cylinder - I am told I have air in the system which is stopping the hot water from working. I have chopped into the existing heating circuit to add another radiator, but the hot water system seems to be suffering the most, which I cannot get my head around - This new...
why is 10mm pipe not used for taps/toilet outlets?
Why do I need the same diam pipe at the wash basin or toilet as I do at the bath or shower?
I can't think of a reason why not so before I implement this, have I missed something that's not so obvious to a layman?
Hi all,
I'm about to replace the pump used for my power shower / bath filler. It's a Stuart-Turner Turbo 30T 3.0bar pump, 22mm inlet and outlet. The installation has been done so that the 22mm outlet reduces to 15mm pipework within less than a metre of the pump. I was thinking of...
Right have decided to have a good go at my heating system so I have basically 2 questions.
1. I have an old oil boiler situated some 25m away from the house. It leaves the boiler in 28mm copper changes to 35mm copper in the boiler house , exits the boiler house and goes underground and just...
Hello Guys
I recently posted a thread about low water pressure at taps in a new kitchen installed by a company using sub-contractors. I have 0.44 bar of hot water pressure and am getting a flow rate of 4.5 Lpm at the new hot monobloc. The Blanco people say that the taps are rated at minimum 0.3...
Just moved in, and lifted the floor to repair a damaged radiator pipe. The system was originally a gravity fed/ immersion tank as the pipework goes to that corner of the room an back again. There is an extra pipe which goes between the flow and return side of the pipework. The boiler is...
I came across this for the first time yesterday, i have seen something similiar in the past when i was an apprentice but that was a long time ago.
Just thought that i would put this up so as to help anyone out there that may come across it. Its plastic pipe that takes cold main, in this...
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've recently purchased a home where the prior owners have had some sub-standard work done in the past.
The pipework in the photos is the hot water feed from the solar panels down to the hot water tank. It looks like the copper pipe has been routed quite...
