The book you need to read(IMHO) is "Sustainable Energy - Without The Hot Air" by David JC MacKay

I've read many books on the subject and without doubt, this is the most balanced, reasoned and honest book I've ever read.

I just read the reviews Howsie and as it is recommended by the bastion of acceptance of the climate regime aka the guardian , i'll give it a miss. (i can't get it on my kindle anyway).
I'm looking for the alternate to the "general consensus" (what a lie that one is)
I just bought the propaganda bureau. It appeals to me more :smile:

Read 'Water Wars' by Marc de Villiers this is a quite exacting account

Reducing the speed from 70 to 60 may according to average statistics save 10% of emissions. But not likely to save the environmental impact as it will take longer to cover the effected area.
