Yes I have decided thats the plan, I would rather stump up again and get it done properly, at least I have some more knowledge now thanks to all the helpful advice on here, great service chaps.

Unfortunately yes, I did not look at stuff he had done in ceiling until later on when I was tidying up. He had clipped pipework down wall where I wanted it and checked cast iron rad fitted as expected so paid him for the work. Now I will be paying twice as not interested in him coming back.

I cannot believe that is done by anyone with a gas safe card. Surely this is a handyman, but even a handyman wouldn't put his name to that.

Love the push fit coupler on the right hand side, must have run out of pipe......

Sadly they're all about the money nowt about pride in work. I couldn't walk out of a place leaving it like that, temporary or otherwise

I agree to a point with that but some customers also want the world for 20 quid and wont pay the true cost of a job but still want it doing.

This is a different matter and not aimed at the OP but...

To some degree we all have at some point 'trimmed' jobs to stay within customers budget (with their knowledge) - but this is another level.

I really refuse to believe this was done by a gas safe registered engineer.
Its got have a go hero written all over it imho...

I don't know any GS that carry pushfit.
And if your gonna buy copper pipe you would ordinarily have elbows / couplings on the van
This smacks of someone with no access to tools. Cutting or bending or padsaws etc

Sadly most people no longer know their local tradesmen, in fact they hardly know their neighbours!
In year gone by people knew their tradesmen personally. They also knew by word of mouth the good ones and the rough ones (some small communities still do to an extent) but that has been mostly lost these days and people think because someone has a badge or has a web page or has a list the length of your arm of checkaratedtrade reccomendations that they must be good.
Most of it is rubbish.
Yes there are a few good ones in there but many you wouldn't let in the door.

Btw that workmanship is a disgrace but you don't need me to tell you that.

Being gas safe registered proves nothing regards skills or workmanship as you know as well as i do.
It merely proves you know (or have read so should know) the standards you should work to regards the gas regulations.

Too many chancers and useless bstrds in this game!

Again I agree to a point but its the exception not the rule

Jeez,

The push fit decorators are at it again, when will all my pain end, just get a proper plumber in if you can find one, hells bells.

You know your average Joe Public knows jack crap about plumbing and neither do some so-called plumbers, this guy is not a plumber.

Someone move this into the "Hall of Shame"

How right you are Tamz with all you have said here. When it was Corgi they used to come around to two of your jobs to see what your work was like, just take you money now and give you a Blue Peter Badge, wonder if I joint would I get a bus pass too!

AHAHAHAHAHA the state of that!!!

That has to be a DIY job, there's more material cost there than labour.

while i agree this is a revolting instal and the installer should be put up against a wall and shot i cant agree that no GS would carry plastic pushfit fittings every one i know now has some push fit in the van
im amazed at the Luddite reactions to the use of plastic on this forum it has its place if i hadn't moved with the times i would still have a parafine blowlamp and a roll of lead in the van
the main aim of work is profit and if your competing using only copper against others quoting for plastic your going to be very hungry

We just use copper and are expanding ; We now have 1 permanent member of staff servicing 1 part time servicing /cp21 . One doing 5 combis a week, and three others doing systems / installs. No plastic unless desperate.... We can fit copper for about the same cost, buying fittings and bits for plastic is expensive where u can bend good old croppa

The photo here just goes to prove Steve that anyone can do push fit plumbing, how it looks is a different matter, if it holds water, when I used a paraffin blow-lamp you had a trade to be proud of, not so certain that's like it is today, all the tradesman I knew wore shirt and ties, there was real respect, I would only do for others what I would do for myself and there is no push fit in my house, albeit I don't have to make a living out of plumbing any-more, so I appreciate what you say, but I wont be swayed.

I do understand what you say and you need to work and make a living.

You can see its new pipe.
Who in there right mind would buy in copper pipe and then buy pushfit when a bag of 15mm endfeed is peanuts and if your a plumber the surplus will always get used.

Ill tell ya. Someone who hasnt a clue.
I got 4 pushfits. 2 15mm stop ends and 2 22mm. Thats it lol. :)

Use in the sense of do a quick mod, slip em on. And pull em off when done

As when I leave they leave too.
Any permanent work always copper.

Always and forever the property of me.
