Dear Forum,

please could you advise me. I bought a Groupon deal on a boiler service. The boiler is about six or seven years old and works fine but has a slight leak. Someone came round, serviced the boiler and said someone else would come to deal with the leak. Ten days later I had a call from a repair man who said he'd been there for five hours and had the boiler off the wall and did I know where the key was(?). I said I hadn't even asked him to do the job, just give me an estimate. The next day my daughter rang to say that he'd been there for ten hours, taken the boiler off the wall and pulled it to bits, said he'd be back the next day but he hadn't turned up and now the heating and hot water weren't working. I rang the company and complained and the day after my call someone went round, switched the boiler on and off a few times and it started working.

Now I don't know if this was really a major job or if it was deliberately made into a long job or if it was a small problem and the guy just didn't know what he was doing. I have had the following bill although they've reduced it to £935 because they agree that I wasn't given an estimate. I can't afford to pay it anyway, but can anyone look at the invoice and tell me what they think would be a fair price for this job. I don't know what to do and I feel I've really been done.
Please advise me! Thanks.

Here's the invoice:
Labour:
1
st Engineer 10 Hours 800.00

Installed cylinder key
Remove and installed diverter
2

I would not pay a penny tell them you will see them in court. I think they are trying to have you. Over £1000.00 to (fix a leak) I cannot even get that to install a full central heating system. Con merchants!!
