Have got 32 new build town houses to price for a builder I regularly work for.
they are 2 and 3 bedroom. With bathroom and shower room.

they have been specified for air source heat pumps.

I have connected to a few, but never completely installed the lot.
Has anyone got recommendations?
suply and fit myself ( best manufacturers)
mamufacturers courses.
get a specialist Company to install. .?

Green energy tariffs require approved installer. Becoming approved is a cost you may not wish to incur. Doing the wet side with an approved installer may pay better short term and experience gained set you up for approval later.

need to be mcs for greendeals, which as said is a huge expennse. get a company to do the heatpump and you do the internals, buffers, ho****er tanks etc. We used touse Nibe, they were ok units but found the control system quite user unfriendly. fitted a dimplex which was very easy to set up and instructions were easy to understand. With 32 properties, it may be worth becoming registered yourself. So long as there is enough time between being awarded the contract and undertaking the work to get the accreditation stuff done.

Not sure I fancy all the paperwork. Plus they start building the first 8 in the next few weeks.
Anyone know specialists in air scource in the yourskshirep/ humberside area?

Where are you?

We do both mono and split air source and can sub contract some elements of the work. Some HP's are serious heap of s*** just like boilers there are cheap ones, and good ones out there.

Give me a call (rather than pm me as we are maxed at the moment, so will not be in the office for the next few days, my details from my signature.)

It can easily take 3 months to get the required certifications yourself :)

Hi

my company has fitted hundreds of the Mitsubishi ASHP's but I've heard they aren't the best. not had too many issues with them though other than the end user

consider getting a make that has good boilers too and make them design, draw, spec the full heating and hot water systems for you so they have design liability.

Why should they do good boilers too?

The best electric car makers aren't the best diesel car makers...

You get what you pay for with ASHP's at the end that causes most problems you have Mitsubishi Ecodans, the area with most install issues is Sansung EHS due to the quality of the installer. We will only install Panasonic and Daikin, neither the cheapest on the market, we find amusing stories of the ignorance of installers when we go on their training courses, ALL the errors could have been avoided with
a) a proper design and knowing when NOT to specify a heat pump
b) trained installers that would actually follow a design and the MI's
c) trained designers that understand the interaction between all the elements - heating distribution, heat loss design and emitters design, and balancing the capital and running costs of a design
d) training the customer how to use it

There are lost of little nuances with heat pump installations, and 99.5% of the problems are down to skipping / taking shortcuts in one of the above a - d. The other 0.5% will be a faulty unit. (1 in 200)

As there are 32 properties that need to be designed and spec'd most boiler companies/ rad manufacturers will jump at the chance to design/ spec them if you fit there boiler and rads. If one of these manufacturers makes a decent ASHP then bobs your uncle, get the whole system speced and find a qualified installer to fit the ASHP side.

A free design is free, even better get a rebate aswell to bump your profit margins, even push for them to help get your training and accreditiations sorted for free and fit the ASHP yourself. keep the design, drawings, warrantys, liability etc.... to one company.

this is what i would try to do to make life easier, deal with less people in the chain if problems arise, etc......

as for the quality of ASHP i have no idea who makes good or bad ones, biggest thing your builder will want is cheap price with low issues while under his warranty period. Phone some manufacturers and tell them to convince you they want your business.

Get hold of a copy of the SAP calc for the properties you will find that there is a product already specified on it.
