hi has any one fitted one of the swimming pool air source heat pumps to a normal heating system and if so does it work ok as I have look at both units and only can see the difference in price and pipe sizes
is it just one of the makes cons to make us pay more for a heating unit when the pool option will work

Hi Pigmad.

I only really know one thing about air-source heatpumps, which is this:

"System design and correct product selection is absolutely vital to get a working system".

Whereas you can often cut corners on domestic heating systems and get away with it, Air source really punishes people who don't know what they are doing.

Limited knowledge on air source but from an educated guess.

the pool one wont raise the temp high enough to service a house hold heating or hot water requirements.

heating a pool is a different class in its own.

My guess is you will find that the pool one does not raise the temp as high but heats a much larger volume of water.
opposite to what you want for a house hold!

as said by ray, heat pumps are great things if installed and system designed correctly.
one error and you've got a very expensive fan

dont be the guy putting a second hand air source heatpump on ebay....

As killy bing said, and even more so if you should be looking to retrofit to an existing system. From my perspective domestic heat pumps are a marginal choice esp air source - to stand a chance of being happy with your system you need to fit the most appropriate solution not the cheapest.
