Airing Cupboard Heat With Combi

Hi

I have an old couple who would like to change their boiler and quite like the idea of a combi as their hot water requirements are minimal. However they are very attached to the idea of an airing cupboard and that is a deal breaker for them. This got me thinking about putting a rad in the new airing cupboard. However they also want an airing cupboard with heat during the summer.

Can anyone see any reason why I shouldn't put a single rad in the airing cupboard off a motorised valve programmed to come on twice a day with its own programmable timer for 15 minutes or however long. This would give them their toasty airing cupboard....

You could fit a ladder towel rail with an electrical element and they just switch on and off in the summer months ,and run it off the heating in the winter .

This was spec for some of the housing asscoiations, how about trying one of those digital programable radiator trvs?
edit, ignore me, thats not going to turn the boiler on is it.

you can use a three way valve and y plan wiring to give them year round heat in the airing cupboard with a trv on the rad for temp control its the one thing we missed after i put it all in the loftand yes were getting on a bit

The problem with a Y plan is wiring it to a volt free combi. Better and easier with 2 x 2 ports.

As in both on flow/return?
Cant you just do a dual fuel , wont that be cheaper??

No on flow to airing cupboard and flow to the rest of the house. You could do it wilth just 1 valve on the rest of the house. Probably would be cheaper with an element.

Extra expense of motorised valve etc? Have fitted a couple of tubular Sun House 180w heaters recently, don't require thermostat, come fitted with 3 pin plug or change old immersion point for fused spur down to 3a?
