Alpha 25C Heating Not Working

Yeah, unfortunetly the case. Think the customer is considering a new boiler, but to me it seems wasteful to tear out a boiler that's under 5 years old, even if it is an Alpha!!

Charge her £100 to hang a new one in its place lol. Might be cheaper than all parts!

Had the same dilema with a Baxi last year and the guy decided to get another one the same model and keep the old one for spares

Really! Never done that myself personally but I can completely see that in some instances it makes sense.

Depends how much the boiler is new, but I'm guessing for an alpha, not very much and prob comes with 5 year warranty.

Yeah. Well, I guess we'll wait and see what they say tomorrow.

If it's going to be an expensive repair, I'll run it past them.

Well here we are that time of year when the heating needs to work efficiently!

The Alpha has been providing hot water very efficiently throughout the summer, just as it should.

However come the Winter and we need some warmth...

The Alpha heating fires up each morning as it should and provides a nice warm house, until........there is a demand for hot water. Hot water flows as it should but on turning off the hot water the heating does not function, result cold house .

The thermostat is making a demand for heating but...nothing.

However if the system is turned off for 15 minutes (15 not 10) and then turned back on the heating works as it should!

Those are the clues, diverter replaced last year by GSR engineer who was flummoxed by it not solving the problem. Need advice to give to GSR engineer to help solve the problem.

Over to you experts......

to stop this happening, turn on the heating occassionally during the summer. Now you call a gsr technician out to fix it. If someone gives me advice as I walk in the door, I tend to leave, all I ask for is the symptoms
